In Bakersfield, California there is a small Ice Cream Shop located on the corner of California Avenue and Eye Street called Dewar's. It has been in the same location for nearly 100 years, with its anniversary coming up in 2009!
An old fashioned ice cream/soda fountain offers a variety of wonderful delights for people of all ages and sweet preferences. However, Dewar's is primarily known for its chews. A pound of Dewar's Chews (taffy's) are a regular gift to friends and family from out of town (everyone in town already has them out during the holidays). With five wonderful flavors, it may be hard to choose which to get. Luckily, a combo box is available!
At this time of year, the Peppermint Chews are a popular choice, but the Peanut Butter, Caramel, Almond, and Chocolate Almond are also favorites! If you can't make it to Bakersfield, you can order some chews (and other items) online!

I came home yesterday after having posted this about Dewar's chews and found a box had been mailed to me from family in Bakersfield. A one pound box of peanut butter, caramel, and almond chews! Awesome!!
